Here is a shot of the remains of the western approach to the original Red River Bridge in Alexandria. The bridge was built in 1901 by the Louisiana Railway and Navigation Company, which was later merged with the L&A and later KCS. The picture was taken from where teh old KCS depot was located. |

I have no clue what this was. The metal bars are evenly spaced and extend all the way to the tree line in the background. This paralleled one of the station tracks and was located immediately next to it. Anyone have a clue as to what this was? |

A view from the same location but facing upgrade towards the bridge. About 100 yards up grade is the concrete abutment that supported the steel span over LA Hwy 1. The white object on the left side of the ROW is a KCS mile marker. The depot grounds can be seen through the brush on the left. |

KCS Station Grounds |
| Description: |
Found these rails still in place at the KCS station grounds. The loading platform and station tracks would be to the right and the station itself is to the right background. This was Track 5 at the station grounds, and I have been told that as late as 1967, the Southern Belle carried a New Orleans to Alexandria box express car, and it's possible that this track was used to spot that car for unloading. |

A lonely monument to the former activity at this locaiton. This concrete marker is along the remains of the western approach to KCS' former Red River Bridge at Alexandria. This bridge was removed after a new bridge was built down river as part of the I49 construction project. The loading platform at the former station grounds can be seen on the left side of the image. |
